Paparoa Street School
At Paparoa Street School, kaiako participate in an annual professional growth cycle (PGC) to assess how they are meeting the Standards for the Teaching Profession | Ngā Paerewa mō te Umanga Whakaakoranga (the Standards). The tumuaki facilitates a shared understanding of the Standards and ensures that kaiako have the opportunity to discuss and receive feedback on their teaching practice. The PGC is designed to support kaiako to better understand the relationship between their teaching practice and outcomes for ākonga.
The tumuaki is responsible for designing and implementing an annual PGC for kaiako, which may include:
At the end of an annual cycle, the tumuaki confirms that kaiako have participated in the PGC and provides a statement to each kaiako about whether they meet the Standards. If the tumuaki determines that a kaiako does not currently meet the Standards, the tumuaki develops a plan in consultation with the kaiako to address these concerns. If this does not resolve the concern, the tumuaki may take further action to notify the kaiako of any corrective action required. See Performance Management.
The PGC process meets privacy and records retention requirements. See Privacy Policy and Kura Records Retention and Disposal.
