Sponsorship

Paparoa Street School considers sponsorship in terms of supporting the financial position of the kura, achieving our strategic objectives, and the values and public image of our kura. We are transparent in our decision making and act in financially responsible way, ensuring that arrangements do not conflict with kura policies.

Paparoa Street School may accept sponsorship from business sources to provide financial or material support to the kura. Sponsorship may include providing funds, products, or services in exchange for sponsor promotion and positioning within the kura community. We ensure that sponsorship is used for its approved purpose, and not for any purposes outside of this.

The poari matua considers sponsorship proposals according to this policy and the expectations of the sponsor. We consider the appropriateness of all prospective sponsors (e.g. businesses, public entities, and charitable trusts). Some sponsors may be inappropriate for our kura. We ensure that sponsorship does not present a conflict of interest or provide unreasonable benefit to the sponsor.

The kura does not provide personal information in exchange for sponsorship. See Privacy.

Sponsorship agreements

All sponsorship agreements, and any relevant conditions, are recorded in writing. The sponsor is responsible for ensuring that arrangements meet their own requirements (e.g. entitlement to tax deductability).

Sponsorship funds are used for their approved purpose, according to the terms of the sponsorship agreement. If funding for an agreed purpose is not used in its entirety, the kura consults with the sponsor about excess funds. We may return excess funds to the sponsor, or the funds may be donated to the kura if the sponsor agrees.

Sponsor recognition

The poari matua discusses recognition with the sponsor as part of approving a sponsorship agreement: we publicly recognise sponsors unless they ask for anonymity. Recognition is proportionate to the contribution of the sponsor.
