Paparoa Street School
At Paparoa Street School, the poari matua ensures that the kura is a physically and emotionally safe place where risks to health and safety (both physical and mental) are eliminated or minimised (Health and Safety at Work Act 2015; Education and Training Act 2020). This includes having procedures to manage and respond to an infectious disease outbreak (pandemic). This information is part of our emergency management plan and kept with our printed emergency plans and procedures

We take steps to protect kaimahi, ākonga, and our kura community from infectious diseases and encourage preventative actions (e.g. annual vaccinations) – see Infectious Diseases.

Response to a pandemic
When a pandemic has been advised or declared, we follow any directives from the Ministry of Education and/or the Ministry of Health (e.g. restrictions and safety measures). Our response includes:
