Paparoa Street School
Paparoa Street School responds to circumstances where on-site learning is not possible. In these circumstances (e.g. widespread health-related events, extreme weather events, or other events that require kura closure), we aim to provide quality learning for all ākonga and continuity with our kura curriculum and programmes.
We prioritise ākonga safety and wellbeing when distance learning is required, and take individual capabilities into consideration. We aim to balance online learning with activities that don't require devices and may be able to provide hard copies of learning materials as an alternative to online learning or to support online learning.
The kura expects ākonga to remain in contact with kaiako and engage with the learning programme at their level. If an ākonga is not engaging or responding, kaimahi follow up with the ākonga and their parents or caregivers as necessary. Kura kaimahi maintain appropriate communication with ākonga, parents, and caregivers, and keep records of communication as necessary.
