In each policy in this section, we note how the policy meets specific Code or legislative requirements.

At Paparoa Street School, we have good systems and documentation to manage offers, enrolment, contracts, and insurance requirements for international learners. We ensure that international learners and their families are provided with information about their likely educational outcomes and their rights and responsibilities at the school before entering into an enrolment contract.

• Offers – We ensure that an offer of educational instruction is in accordance with the Education and Training Act 2020 and is appropriate for international learner expectations, English language proficiency, and academic capability. Along with the information we provide as part of marketing and promotion, we manage the expectations of learners and their families by ensuring an offer of place is suitable. We aim to ensure a successful international learner placement and experience. See International Offers.
• Enrolment and Contracts – We provide international learners and their families with information to help them make a well-informed decision about whether to enrol at our school. If they choose to enrol at our school, we provide a fair and reasonable enrolment contract that includes at least the minimum information required by the Code of Practice, including potential disciplinary actions. • Fees – We ensure that no international learner (unless exempted by the Minister) receives tuition at our school unless they have paid the school a sum that covers our best estimate of the cost involved in providing tuition, an amount that is an appropriate reflection of the use of school capital facilities, the amount prescribed by the Minister for the school to reimburse the Crown, and any other fees prescribed by the board. • Insurance – We ensure that international learners have appropriate insurance coverage to protect them against significant financial costs arising from any incidents. We provide learners and their families with information about insurance requirements before they enter into an enrolment contract with our school. See International Learner Insurance.
