Paparoa Street School
This policy outlines how Paparoa Street School meets the requirements of Code Outcome 15, Part 7, clause 61.
At Paparoa Street School, we ensure that an offer of educational instruction is in accordance with the Education and Training Act 2020 and is appropriate for international learner expectations, English language proficiency, and academic capability. Along with the information we provide as part of marketing and promotion, we manage the expectations of learners and their families by ensuring an offer of place is suitable. We aim to ensure a successful international learner placement and experience.
Before making an offer of place, we assess whether the learner is an appropriate candidate for our school programme, including by assessing their academic capabilities and English language proficiency. We ensure we are satisfied that the school programme offered is appropriate to the expectations of the learner and their family and that the learner has a realistic chance of a successful placement and experience. We check that the programme we offer aligns with their future intentions.
To determine whether our programme is suitable for an international learner, we may:
As part of our assessment, we explain insurance requirements and ask learners and their families to disclose any health or learning needs. Also see International Learner Insurance and International Learners at Risk or with Additional Needs
If we are satisfied that an offer will be appropriate, we review the suitability of the accommodation plans of the learner. If these comply with the Code, we make an
offer of place. If there are any conditions associated with the offer, we advise learners of these in writing. We advise learners, as appropriate:
We record information about our assessment of whether an offer of place is suitable. This includes documenting our assessment process, reasoning, and the decision made. We keep this information according to our privacy and school records retention policies.
