Paparoa Street School
Paparoa Street School provides a physically and emotionally safe place for our ākonga, as required by the Education and Training Act 2020 (s. 127). As part of our primary duty of care, we have systems to eliminate or minimise health and safety risks, and our continued aim is to improve health outcomes for our ākonga. The tumuaki leads and monitors a schoolwide approach to health and wellbeing, and works with the poari matua to ensure systems are in place to respond to concerns.
Child protection
As required by the Children's Act 2014 (s. 14), we have a Child Protection policy in place that provides a framework for ākonga safety at Paparoa Street School. We also have supporting policies and procedures in place to ensure that all members of our community understand their responsibilities for maintaining a safe kura environment. Our Child Protection policy emphasises safeguarding of our ākonga and prevention of harm, as well as the importance of recognising and responding to concerns.
